Oceanography Basics

Oceanography is definitely the most interesting subject of Earth Science because it integrates the science of chemistry, physics, geology, and biology all into one basic science. With oceanography, you have different habitats to study such as beaches, coral reefs, estuaries, hydrothermal vents, kelp forests, and even sea grass beds. Oceanographers study all aspects of the ocean- the chemisty of its waters, the geology of its seafloor, the physics of its interactions with the atmosphere, and the biology of the organisms. While studying oceanography, the learner gets a better understanding of how the ocean works. The study of the oceans is also linked to understanding global warming and related biosphere concerns. Oceanography is an interesting branch of Earth Science, and in my opinion, the coolest topic of Earth Science.
mucho love, madeline

Hey Madeline,

I think that oceanography is an intresting part of Earth Science as well but my favorite part of Earth Science is geology but i can see why you would like oceanography.

I believe Oceanography is a very interesting part of Earth Science. It is a very political factor too. When you think of the amount of pollution and damage that has been gathered up within the Ocean... it is a quite influencial topic....Oceans... the great Seas of which we send out trade.. transportation.. and so much more... Just think... we could go so far!
